Each year, friends, families, colleagues and community members across South Africa and Namibia offer a few hours of their precious time to live the Santa Shoebox Project mantra and experience The Joy of Giving. The time required depends on how many volunteers and donors there are in your area. We’re always happy to help you choose a volunteer role that will suit your schedule!
How Can You Help?
- Become a Santa Shoebox Ambassador
- Build or join a team in your area
- Nominate, assess and approve beneficiary facilities
- Manage and / or work at the Drop Off
- Arrange delivery of Shoeboxes to beneficiaries
- Celebrate with the children receiving their Shoeboxes

What Do You Need?
If you have a friendly smile, a few free hours to spare, are organized and reliable, consider joining a team in your area. Regular access to a computer, the internet, and WhatsApp is essential for communication and coordination. Additionally, reliable transport is necessary for attending meetings or events.
From time to time we also need these additional skills:
- Media Liaison / PR
- Logistics Support
- Drop Off Support
- Celebration Representative
- Photographer
- Admin Assistant
When Will I Be
Needed?
Depending on the role you choose, we will require your help at various times during the year. Our busiest times (when we require the most volunteers) are for our Drop Off events late in October and early in November.
Drop Off Coordinators will require a few free hours per month throughout the year.
FEBRUARY – AUGUST
Drop Off Coordinators secure a venue, build their local volunteer team, assess beneficiary applications and communicate with donors.
SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER
Pledging opens in September and we need all hands on deck for the months of October and November to help us at Drop Off events and celebration parties for beneficiary children.
