With READ, the SSP Legacy seeks to address the matter of literacy within the Early Childhood Development (ECD) sector. It is a sad truth that many children enter Grade 1 having never held a book in their hands.

Reading corners produced by Learning in Reach have been installed in ECDs countrywide, comprised of a book shelf containing 100 books, a bench, scatter cushions and a rug. The ECD practitioners also receive training as to how best to incorporate books into many aspects of Early Childhood Development.

The Santa Shoebox Project is a proud supporter and distributor of Book Dash, having thus far ensured that 300 000 Book Dash titles have reached children-in-need.
