Mandela Day asks each of us to give 67 minutes of our time. It's a beautiful idea but we know it’s not always possible.
So this year, we're asking for 67 seconds instead.
That's all it takes to pledge a Virtual Santa Shoebox. And those 67 seconds will reach further than you might imagine.
Tata Madiba understood that education is where lasting change begins. So do we. That’s why the proceeds from every Virtual Santa Shoebox are invested in the SSP Legacy work we do to build schools, install reading corners, train ECD teachers and provide them with the resources they need to nurture crucial early childhood development.
And, we do this work in partnership with other NPOs, so that every Rand you give works in more than one direction. Our 8th school has just been built in partnership with Breadline Africa and the Centre for Early Childhood Development. Training guides and teaching aids are sourced from The Reach Trust. The handmade Snuggleheads tucked into each box? Crocheted by the women of Kya Crafts.
For those women, that income has meant educating their children or leaving abusive relationships. One has bought land. And it all began with a ball of yarn, a hook, and someone willing to buy what she made.
So far, SSP Legacy work has impacted more than 200 thousand children. Every task began the same way - with someone like you, choosing to give.
